Dennis Eckersley made his major league rookie debut during the 1975 season. Eck made an immediate impact with the Indians, posting a 13-7 record with a .260 ERA. He also posted 2 saves, which were the first of his 390 career saves.
Style: Navy blue pullover knit road shirt. Round tail. Neck is red/white/red ribbed mitered V neck . Sleeves are red/white/red ribbed elastic. “INDIANS” is found on front with white on red double tackle twill. Eckersley’s #37 is found on reverse with white on red double tackle twill. The style has been confirmed as correct by comparison to period images.
Tagging: The style of the Wilson tagging dates to the 1974-1978 timeframe, courtesy of the MEARS Taging database. Other examples have entered the hobby which supports Wilson as the correct supplier:
1975 LaRoche
1975 Tom McGraw
Size 42: When measured, the actual size is consistent with the tagged size of 42. Two other period Eckersley shirts support size 42 as being correct for the era-
1975 Blue Eck (size 42)
1975 Red Eck (size 42)
Therefore, size is supported by additional period examples as being correct for the era.
Game Wear: Shirt exhibits signs of moderate wear. The anchor stitching shows wear, and the body shell sows evenly distributed wear.
Final Grade MEARS A9.5: A very small hole under the “I” was the reason for this ½ point deduction.
