Offered is a Willie Mays professional model H&B Louisville Slugger game used bat from his time with the New York & San Francisco Giants in the late 1950's. Model number S2 is stamped on the barrel while May's uniform number 24 is written on the knob, though it has faded considerably with time.
This ash bat currently weighs 33 ounces, measures 35" in length and matches known player factory records with a regular knob and round barrel. It exhibits signs of heavy use with ball marks, deeply embedded stitch marks, bat rack marks, and a lite 6" handle crack.
Bat receives 5 points for matching known player factory records, 3 point for use, 1.5 points for player use traits and loses 1/2 a point for the handle crack resulting in a final grade of MEARS A9.
1950s Mays bats have been selling in the $15,000 range.
