Not to be confused with the current Angels outfielder or the actor who played the mohawked menace in The Road Warrior, Vernon Wells is also the name of a prolific sports artist who once served as an artist for the Upper Deck trading card company. These two 16" x 17 1/4" backer-boards have photographic examples of Wells' paintings. Among the athletes honored by the brilliant strokes of Wells: Nolan Ryan, Frank Thomas, Ivan Rodriguez, Johnny Bench, Hideo Nomo, Juan Gonzalez and various members of the Texas Rangers of the early-to mid-1990s.
