Cal Ripken Jr. was instrumental in baseball's recovery from the dreaded 1994 lockout. The game needed a dose of happiness to get away from the gloom and doom created by the work stoppage.

This glove was issued to Ripken although it was never used by the Hall of Famer. The four Rawlings dots suggest this was issued in 1998 to the shortstop.

"Cal Ripken Jr." is embroidered on the thumb in black threads. Rawlings manufacturer's logos appear near the index finger and wrist area. There is oil on the inner pocket and "PRO-6HF" stamped on the index finger. Deer tanned cowhide is used for the hand slot.
