This is a 1991-96 Orlando Merced Louisville Slugger Professional Model Game Used Bat. This bat dates to the 1991-96 period based on the Louisville Slugger centerbrand era and the period in which Merced wore jersey number 6 for the Pirates, which can be found on the knob and barrel end of this bat. This H238 model bat measures 33.6 inches and weighs 31.3 ounces.
This bat exhibits heavy use with ball marks present on top and bottom of the barrel. Numerous bat rack marks are also evident. Pine tar residue extends approximately 17.5" down the handle from the knob in varying amounts. Two very small 1-2" handle cracks are present along the handle of the bat. Merced's jersey number, 6, is present in black marker on both the knob and barrel end of the bat.
This bat grades out at the MEARS A8.5 grade with five points for the base grade, three points for heavy use, one point for the documented uniform number on the knob, and a half point deduction for the two minor handle cracks/ This bat is also accompanied by PSA/DNA paperwork, which grades the bat out as a PSA GU 8.
