For the purpose of evaluation, MEARS inspected this 1986-89 George Bell professional model game used Louisville slugger signature model bat. Bat originated from the collection of Brewers clubhouse manager, Jim Ksicinski. Examination of the centerbrand reveals the circa 1986-89 dating. Located on the barrel end is the player requested W234 model number, which was factory stamped in block lettering/numbering at the Louisville Slugger factory. “George Bell” facsimile signature was factory stamped on the barrel as was the practice of all players under contract with Louisville Slugger. There is no uniform number on the knob. The handle contains an even coat of pinetar, extending from the knob to about 14” towards the top of the handle. Near mid handle is a 7” handle crack that extends towards the centerbrand. The crack has caused slight grain separation. Examination of the upper portion of the barrel reveals numerous bat rack marks. There are numerous ball marks, light stitch marks, and overall heavy use. Bat remains in the original condition as last used by Bell at Milwaukee County Stadium. LOA MEARS/Troy R. Kinunen. Bat was awarded 5 base points. 3 points for heavy use, plus 2 for provenance.
