Lot #937:

1983-84 Nolan Ryan Houston Astros Game Worn New Era Cap (MEARS Auction LOA)

Offered is a game worn cap of Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan from his playing days with the Houston Astros. Based on the New Era tagging present in the cap, it can be dated to the 1983-84 seasons. Ryan's #34 can be found under the bill in faded black marker as well. The size of the cap, 7 1/4, is consistent with other exemplars previously made available from the same early 1980's era. The cap shows moderate wear with sweat staining around the headband and the fabric has begun to form fit the shape of the head from use and sweating. Accompanying the cap will be a MEARS Auction LOA.

This hales from the collection of a longtime Baltimore Orioles collector who was also a doctor associated with the team.
