Before Cal Ripken Jr. played his first game as a Baltimore Oriole, he spent time in the minor leagues. In between seasons, Ripken played for Caguas in the Puerto Rican League from 1980-82. Offered in this lot is a rare piece of early Ripken memorabilia. On December 4, 1981, Ripken hit a Home Run while playing for Caguas. The lucky fan who caught the ball wrote the date on it and had Ripken sign it. The fan also wrote #8 on it, which was Ripken's jersey number. Underneath Ripken's signature, the Hall of Famer penned the words "Home Run". This ball has the words Wilson on the panel above the sweet spot. On the sweet spot, the words Liga de Beisbol Profesional de Puerto Rico are present. This ball shows significant use with moderate toning present. (62P0036)
