Green Bay worships it Packers but gives special attention to those who work hard and do the dirty work. For his entire career, Larry McCarren provided protection for whichever quarterback he was hiking the football to.
While The Rock experienced some of the dog days of the proud franchise's existence, he was given a Packer Hall of Fame induction for all of his hard work. Following a successful playing career, McCarren became a local sportscaster and has continued his success in the radio booth.
Worn between 1980-84 is this McCarren gamer. Outstanding use (would you expect anything less?) is showcased on the offered specimen. Deep gouges and hit marks are still present on the yellow plastic shell.
The following appear on the inside: both original leather jaw pads, gel-filled and Riddell 155 padding and size "7 1/8-7 3/4" sticker. The reverse includes: "54" green dymo label and transparent warning sticker.
McCarren signed the reverse in black marker.
Employed by the Green Bay Packers from 1984-2000, Scott Waters had on field access for each game, and mingled along the sidelines with the players. Several candid photos document his presence on the field. This lot originated directly from the Scott Waters collection. Detailed LOA’s personally signed by Scott Waters will be included with each item from his collection. Letters of authenticity: Scott Waters & MEARS / Troy Kinunen
