Outfielder Alex Johnson enjoyed a respectable 13-season career with the Phillies, Indians, Angels, Cardinals, Reds, Rangers, Yankees and Tigers. The 1970 All-Star and American League batting champ finished his career in Detroit in 1976, the period from which this H&B Louisville Slugger Bicentennial bat comes.
The barrel of this 33-ounce, 35-inch piece of lumber is stamped with the model number K75. The game-used ash bat matches known factory records. It shows heavy signs of game use, has heavy ball marks, stitch marks, bat rack marks and cleat marks. There are dozens of clusters of ball marks above the barrel and deep stitch marks. It has been signed by Johnson in blue marker along with the inscription "1970 A.L. Batting Champ". Johnson's name and Tigers number (33) appears on the knob in black marker.
Final Grade: MEARS A9. 5 points for matching factory records, 3 points for use, 1 point for uniform number written on knob.
