It is common knowledge in the jersey collecting world, teams carried jerseys over from year to year as budgets were usually tight.
One of football's most notorious penny pinchers was George Halas. If there was talk of a way to save a buck, Papa Bear's ears would perk up in anticipation.
Worn during the football patriarch's coaching reign is this size "42" home jersey, attributed to running back Bobby Jackson. It could have also been worn by Justin Rowland a year earlier as well. Jackson first game prominence as he was Bear Bryant's first starting quarterback while at the University of Alabama.
Each of the identifiers is crafted in two-color orange-on-white tackle twill and exhibit noticeable puckering from launderings and Sunday battles.
The full sleeves include embedded striping and elbow reinforcements. Secured in the rear interior is a King O'Shea manufacturer's tag (early '60s according to MEARS database) and a size label.
The reverse lower region has a few orange spots visile.
