1960s Philadelphia Phillies Game Worn Helmet - Painted "P" On Front (MEARS Auction LOA)

Baseball helmets have come a long way baby. From the early days of baseball headgear is this interesting Phillies helmet.

We are not able to determine who wore this exact helmet, but it appears to be the same vintage as the Dick Allen game used helmet we offered in Dec. 2010.

Composed out of a composite material is this helmet. Heavy use is shown throughout with outstanding use characteristics shown. The inner leather headband shows great wear. Two undecipherable stickers appear on the inside. Our guess is the thinner strip of tape was used for player identification while the second sticker might denote size. "P" is meticulously crafted on the front in white paint.
