1960 Joe Louis Meets Fidel Castro "Boston Herald Archives" Original Photo - Lot of 2 (Boston Herald Hologram/MEARS LOA)

Joe Louis and Fidel Castro cross paths on these original photos - at or near 7" x 9". At least one of the following appears on reverse: photographer stamp, date stamp or name written. Both have a Boston Herald Archives hologram.

The original Boston Herald was founded in 1846 by a group of Boston printers jointly under the name of John A. French & Company. The paper was published as a single two-sided sheet, selling for one cent. This is an original photo, in many cases a Type 1 printed at the time of the event. File copies or type 2 photos are also found, and can be distinguished by the markings on the reverse.
