National League President Warren Giles presents Milwaukee Braves sluggers Eddie Mathews and Hank Aaron with the Mel Ott Plaque and the Hillerich & Bradsby Silver Bat Award for leading the senior circuit in home runs and batting average during the 1959 season. Measures 7" x 9.5". "Henry Aaron" handwritten on reverse with Associated Press Wirephoto & Jun 2 1960 stamps. Boston Herald Archives Hologram. (M0489)

The original Boston Herald was founded in 1846 by a group of Boston printers jointly under the name of John A. French & Company. The paper was published as a single two-sided sheet, selling for one cent. This is an original photo, in many cases a Type 1 printed at the time of the event. File copies or type 2 photos are also found, and can be distinguished by the markings on the reverse.
