Eddie Mathews was the only player linked to the Milwaukee, Boston and Atlanta Braves during his distinguished career. Offered are five original photos of the baseball great - three 8" x 10" and one 8" x 8 1/2". These have at least one of the following on back: date stamp, writing, production notes or photographer service stamp. Each includes a Boston Herald Archives hologram.
The original Boston Herald was founded in 1846 by a group of Boston printers jointly under the name of John A. French & Company. The paper was published as a single two-sided sheet, selling for one cent. This is an original photo, in many cases a Type 1 printed at the time of the event. File copies or type 2 photos are also found, and can be distinguished by the markings on the reverse.
