1955-70 circa Golfing Greats “Seattle Times” Original News Photo (“Seattle Times” Hologram/MEARS LOA) - Lot of 12

Some of the best golfers of their respective time--and of all time--are prominently pictured in this vintage dozen-photo offering. Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Ben Hogan and Byron Nelson, among others, are featured. Reverse includes: Affixed cutlines, publication/photographer stamps, editorial notations and a Seattle Times hologram.

The Seattle Times originated as the Seattle Press-Times, a four page newspaper founded in 1891 with a daily circulation of 3,500, which Main’es teacher and attorney Alden J. Blethen bought in 1896. This is an original photo, in many cases a Type 1 printed at the time of the event. File copies or type 2 photos are also found, and can be distinguished by the markings on the reverse.
