Offered is a New York Giants salesman sample road jersey dating to circa Leo Durocher's 1954 season managing the club. MacGregor size 44 tag & a strip reading "Durocher 2" sewn in collar with a Set 2 1954 flag tag sewn inside the tail while "New York" and number 2 are sewn to the grey flannel jersey in black on orange double tackle twill. Tagging, body fabric, lettering/numeral fabric, button style and font style are all consistent with MacGregor produced jerseys of the era though the sleeve length is inconsistent when compared to period images of Durocher & the jersey is larger when compared to MacGregor products from the same time frame tagged as size 44. Jersey is also absent any tie down strap which have typically been found in previously examined Durocher jerseys of the era. Those factors, combined with the near complete lack of appreciable wear lead us to believe this jersey was likely a salesman sample. (94V9999)
