This is the first ever inaugural season 1953 Milwaukee Braves uniform ever inspected by MEARS. This complete uniform includes the matching pants and a pair of unmarked socks. Only the first year Milwaukee Braves uniforms were made by Horace Partridge, the makers of the Boston Braves uniforms of the 1950's before switching to Wilson in 1954. This uniform belonged to Pete Whisenant who was a rookie with the Boston Braves in 1952 but apparently, was in the service in 1953 (Korea) and did not play in the regular season. Because he did not play, the uniform remains in almost as new condition sans any problems or wear of any kind. Even the pants are minty with his name embroidered in the waist band. It is a size 44 jersey with his name in a strip tag on the front tail. He wore number 8 (the number on this uniform) in 1952 with Boston. The uniform grades a perfect MEARS A10. Even though he did not wear this uniform in the regular 1953 season, if you ever wanted a first year example of a Milwaukee Braves home, considered by many to be the most handsome jerseys ever made during this era, you will never , ever find a nicer example if you could find one at all.
