If one was to simply examine the Dressed to the Nines Uniform data base, it would appear that the White Sox wore this style of hat from 1951-63 but if one was to examine photographs of the White Sox during this era, there is a notable difference in hats worn from 1951-55 and those worn from 1956-63, most notably, the size and shape of the "o" is longer and more narrow in the early years and became more squared off and squat in the later years. Examine the pictures of the other White Sox hat in this auction of the same style and the difference is readily apparent. This is the earliest version of this style of hat and is far scarcer than the later version. In addition, this is the style of McAuliffe tag seen in early 1950's which was replaced in 1956 era with the square blue tag.
