A signature model M117, 34 ¼”-33.2 oz game bat with tremendous use, deep markings, red bat rack marks and an 8” handle crack. It is pounded all over with deep ball and lace marks as well. Heagan was a star catcher on both the 1948 and 1954 pennant winning Indians teams.  Bob Feller called him the best defensive catcher he ever had and he caught in 142 of 154 games in 1948. He caught for the Indians from 1941-57 before joining the Tigers in 1958, then the Phillies (1958-59), 1959 Giants and finally the 1960 Cubs. He got a job as the Yankees bullpen coach for the historic 1961 team. This bat was ordered from 1953-57 so it places it during the era of the great 1954 Indians team. Final Grade: MEARS A7.5. Base grade of 5 points for matching factory records, 3 points for heavy game use, with a half point deducted for the handle crack. LOA Troy R. Kinunen / MEARS Auctions
