Although simple in design, this cap carries a very special story. During 1940, Buddy Hancken suited up to pitch one game for the Athletics. This was his cap worn on that very day! Manufacturer markings are no longer visible. Simplistic 6 panel constructions, with blue crown button. Medium sized 9 stitch pattern bill. Inside the leather band, “Hancken” is chain stitched in green thread. Additional, in faded blue ink, presumably in Hancken own hand, “1940” is neatly penned, documented the one time feat. Very good overall condition with one small hole on right front panel. Cracking to leather headband. (N0561)
