Game worn cap collectors must admire the simple, yet attention getting style of this rare 1940-45 St. Louis Browns game worn cap. Manufactured with 8 panels, each is decorated with brown and orange
piping. The cap is topped with a brown button. As per the style of the day, the short brim contains an 8 stitch pattern bill design. There is no other tagging or markings, no size indicated. Style worn during the 1944 World Series.
Unlike several other examples that have entered the hobby, this is the only example with a player
I.D. factory stitched into the leather brim. “17” appears in faded thread on the front brim. During the era, Bill Trottier, Steve Sundra, and Lefty Jones were issued the number. Very good overall condition, with some very light damage to 3 very small areas on the bill. Light overall soiling, but cap still remains completely intact. (N0576)
