One lucky fan secured this baseball at a July 12, 1939 exhibition baseball contest. "July 12, 1939 caught this ball hit by Billy Herman Cubs" is written on side panel. This is clearly acceptable as the Cubs played Sunday July 11 and were off until Wednesday July 13.

"L. Gehrig Champs" is written on another side panel. This is not an Official National League baseball. We surmise it was used for a promotional game.
