The mantra for the MEARS August auction is we are going vintage. Once discarded after their service to kid's or semi-professional's teams was extinguished, most of the gridiron gear was discarded. Now we all realize the immense potential of vintage football equipment. For most, it allows an up-close look into the evolution of the sport. MEARS is proud to offer the following lot of football equipment, from a by-gone era of course.
With a labeling period of 1939-41 is this dark burgundy wool football jersey. The identifiers are created in single-color yellow felt material. A V-neck is instituted on front. Applied in the collar is a Horace Partridge size "38" manufacturer's tag.
Also included are Spalding pants with all of the pads still in-place. The final part of this ensemble is a vintage leather football helmet. The Hutch H-10 helmet has seen a game or two but is complete.
