These were the grand parents of the View Master Reels we grew up with. There are four boxed films that resemble the old film from Kodak cameras. You would feed it into one side, pull the lever, and Presto, you have black and white 3-D pics of your favorite ball players. Offered are two Tru Value viewfinders, vintage 1930's. What is fantastic about this lot is that all four films feature the 1935 World Series Detroit Tigers, the 1935 Cubs and the 1936 New York Giants (two boxes of Giants from 1936). Giants players featured in the two films include Ott, Terry, Jackson, Leiber, Joe Moore, Gus Mancuso and Dick Bartell. The 1935 World Series features the Detroit Tigers including Hank Greenberg, Gehringer, Gooslin, Bridges and Cochrane. The National League Champion Cubs of 1935 feature Grimm, English, Hartnett, Steinback, Lon Warneke, Tex Carlton, Larry French and Freddy Lindstrum. You will see these boxed films at flea markets but they are always travel films but never, ever baseball highlights. Until these surfaced, it was assumed that no baseball films had ever been produced. In 3-D, it puts you on the field 20 years before the 1953 View Master Reel set and a million times rarer. How did these survive? Each film is near mint and the viewers work perfectly. Take a seat and travel back in time some 60 years and enjoy. You will probably never see another like it.
