Because Babe Ruth was the apple in almost every fan's eye, table scraps were left for everyone else when it came to endorsements. Lou Gehrig was quiet, reserved and never barely raised a peep.
But he did receive this endorsement in 1932. Arranged through baseball's first true agent, Christy Walsh, this is the only known game endorsed and bearing the likeness of the Iron Horse.
There is no box included, but the scant few in existence have never included a box so it is anyone's guess if this originally was sold in a box.
Showcasing an outstanding playing field is this 18" x 18" wooden board meant to be played by shooting marbles with the launcher - i.ci Bagatelle style game. The marble would hit pins similar to a floor model pinball game.
The top of the board is highlighted with an image of Gehrig in his batting pose. Near the shooter is the name of game. MEARS had the opportunity to market a similar game about three years ago, but this is in better condition. Although there is some wear shown, this would grade a conservative EX/MT.
