Although heavy by today's standards, this massive catcher's mask was used in the 1930s or '40s by a backstop.
This mask has a wire cage front, round spitter hole, ear cage protection with heavy leather encased cushioning.
The mask is fully functional. Writing is visible on the front which has been subsequently blackened out.
