While pre-1930s New York Yankees caps can be found with a sewn on felt logo, we were unable to find any evidence of the this unique style design of "NY". Searches for images included but not limited to:

The leather sweat band is also backed by a plastic backing and the visor length appears inconsistent with what you would expect to see in a Yankees cap issued at the time that a felt logo would have been appropriate. As such, we would have to consider this navy blue, six panel Spalding cap with a felt logo as being more consistent with a retail offering than that of a professional grade/quality product. In either case, it is in superb, all original condition and would make a great display piece and, if a retail model cap, would have to be one of the earliest such offerings and as such, would be considered quite scarce.
