They say behind every good man is a good woman. By that logic some of the ladies behind these Hall of Famers must have been pretty legendary themselves. Some of the superstars pictured here with their better halves are Hank Greenberg, Yogi Berra, Ted Williams, Jackie Robinson, Jimmie Foxx, Joe DiMaggio, Bob Feller, Harmon Killebrew, Leo Durocher, Don Drsydale, Dizzy Dean, Steve Carlton and Connie Mack. Measurements range from 6" x 8" to 8" x 10". Photos contain various handwritten notations, affixed cutlines and date & photographer's stamps on their reverse. Boston Herald Archives Holograms. (M0668)

The original Boston Herald was founded in 1846 by a group of Boston printers jointly under the name of John A. French & Company. The paper was published as a single two-sided sheet, selling for one cent. This is an original photo, in many cases a Type 1 printed at the time of the event. File copies or type 2 photos are also found, and can be distinguished by the markings on the reverse.
