Doc was a popular infielder during the 1920-30's playing for several teams. This bat was side written having been returned in July of 1927, his most productive season when he posted career-highs with a .316 batting average, 92 RBI, 57 runs, and 152 games. He played with the New York Giants from 1925-27 moving to the Braves in mid season of 1927 where he stayed until 1929 where in he jumped back to the Giants. He was also a member of the New York Yankees in 1932-33 being present at the called shot series in 1932 against the Cubs.
