Leibold was one of the three regulars of the 1919 White Sox to avoid inclusion in the fix of that year's World Series, along with Eddie Collins and Ray Schalk. He played during the post season for both the 1917 and 1919 White Sox in which he played in 5 of the 9 games. He played on both the Washington post season teams of 1924-25, the time frame of this bat.
This bat has the rarely seen two year (1924-25) Spalding center brand. It is stamped with the last name only which has been mis-spelled Leipold. In checking the records, there were no players named Leipold during this or any other time frame. It was returned to H&B as evidenced by the side writing which reads: Eddie Corey 6-22-25. This corresponds with the two year center label. Eddie Corey was a pitcher with the White Sox in 1918 hence their connection. Fast forward to 1924, Nemo was playing for the Washington Senators for those two seasons while Corey does not appear in the major/minor records again until 1929 with the Louisville baseball club. One must surmise that Nemo got him a try out in 1925 but he did not make any major league nor minor league team as current records indicate.
