Offered is a very rare bat from a key member of the 1919 Reds World Series Championship team. The offered block letter last name only bat measures 35.5" and weighs 37.5 oz. The bat exhibits the H&B returned side writing and original shipping label. It appears as if the bat was shipped back to Louisville via a sporting goods store. (cannot read date or origin city) The bat shows evidence of tremendous use with swelling concentrated on top of the barrel. There is a very small 4" handle crack that was repaired with a single nail (most likely reason for return to factory) No other Duncans played in the major leagues during the era of this bat (era of bat is proper for the 1919 season) and in all of our research, only two Duncan's show minor league existence with no records of any kind and they are only listed with name and one year listed. Duncan played for the Reds from 1919-24. During the 1919 series against the Black Sox of Chicago, he appeared in all 8 games playing as a rookie in left field where he scored 3 runs with 7 hits. This is the only Pat Duncan bat in the MEARS database. Grades an A7.5 with 5 base points, 3 use points and minus .5 for handle crack. No points awarded for side writing since it was not personally shipped.

Collection of MEARS staff.
