Continued research supports and verifies professional model decal bats being used in the big leagues during the 1911-16 era, (pre-1917). Offered is a bat, manufactured to the professional specifications as used by Frank Homerun Baker during his years with the Athletics and the Yankees.
Measuring 33" and weighing 36 ounces, this bat is consistent with other contemporary major league players. Available known records for Baker record his bats measuring 34" and 34.5". The known recorded weights were 47 ounce, 40 ounce, 39 ounce, and 36-37 ounce. This bat is slightly shorter than the known length, but consistent with respect to ordered weight. It is our opinion that the length is acceptable to be considered a game used bat for Frank Baker.
Game Use: Bat exhibits heavy game use. Stitch and ball marks are found on several surfaces of the barrel end. The handle has an 8" repaired crack. The decal, although heavily worn, is consistent in design to verified Frank Baker decal model bats that have entered the market.
