1910's-50's Abraham Lincoln "John Rogers Collection Archives" Original Photos (MEARS LOA) - Lot of 37

Few individuals have had such a hand in shaping the direction and character of the United States as Honest Abraham Lincoln who is the focus of this collection of 37 photos, some of which themselves are older than 4 score and 7 years, selected from the John Rogers Archives. Included are images of Abe before sporting his famous beard, the house across the street from the Ford Theatre where he breathed his last breath, the gun used by John Wilkes Booth, the carriage Abe rode to the Ford Theatre, the chair he was sitting in, the contents of his pockets that fateful evening, Colonel Oldroyd & his collection of Lincolnalia, Rutledge Tavern in Springfield Illinois and Lincoln's personal bible. Majority of photos measure between 5" x 7" and 8" x 10" and contain various handwritten notations, affixed cutlines and date/photographer stamps on their reverse. (S0613)
