Baseball mechanics have come a long way. This oversized clamp held baseballs in-place so workers could stitch them with precision care.

A vintage baseball is help in-place as an example of how this contraption worked. The rusted coil is still in working order. There is no manufacturer indicated. Measures 31 1/2".
