Aside from the name Lajoie deeply stamped in the center of the barrel, there are no other manufacturing marks. The bat measures 33 3/4" in length and weighs a whopping 42.4 oz. It remains uncracked and aside from some very minor grain separation on back of the barrel and a tiny chip on the knob, it looks like it was made yesterday. Deep color and factory stamp with flame burned finish typical for the era. It is widely believed that these bats were made by Wright & Ditson but sans any markings, nobody can be sure. It is of pro quality and has the hand turned knob. We start these bats at only a 5 grade given we have no real solid information. Given the few early H&B bat from this time period, it is consistent with other known Lajoie pro models. There have also been so few H&B bats that is reasonable to believe that Lajoie used some of these generic hunks of lumber. If you are a collector that needs a hand turned Lajoie in your collection, this one would be almost impossible to improve on and given the price of an H&B model, this bat represents a real bargain.
