1891 circa AJ Reach Game Worn Catcher's Mask (MEARS LOA)

Offered is an AJ Reach catcher's mask dating to the early 1890's. Mask is constructed of a steel cage with a series of 4 leather lined pads tied with wire around the perimeter of the mask along with a leather chin guard stamped with a Reach Trade Mark. Original leather forehead guard stamped with "2 AJ Reach Manufacturers" is also present though it has broken free of the cage. Original head strap stamped with "Licensed Under Patent No. 455.007 June 30th 1891" remains affixed to the mask with leather ties on the left and top though it has broken loose on the right side with what appears to be the original leather tie still wrapped around the cage. Heavy use shown with some cracking & tearing to the interior side of the leather face pads. (80H0070)
