We picked up this rare mitt at this years National. It is the nicest example of this type of mitt that we have ever seen. Rarely, if ever, do you find these intact let alone with the original model number still visibly stamped on the face of the glove in ink. The body is made of canvas with the face catching area of the glove sewn in with leather. It is stamped 15 above that and the remains of a small round makers mark is on the heal but we cannot read it. It is stuffed with horsehair and aside from a few small tears and stains, the entire glove is as soft and supple as the day it was made over 120 years ago. It is hard to imagine how such a fragile mitt like this could survive to this day in this condition. As to size, it measures 9" and is made for an adult. I know this because I am 6'-1" and this glove fits my hand perfectly covering as far down as the wrist as should be. Collection of MEARS staff.
