2011 Larry Welz Underground Artwork "Cherry Poptart" 15" x 22.5" Watercolor Painting (MEARS LOA) One of a Kind, Incredibly Unique!!

American underground cartoonist and commercial artist, Larry Welz (1948-), helped revolutionize the underground comic scene in San Francisco. As one of the early contributors or the 1960s, Welz's comics were published in a variety of periodicals until the early 1980s when one of his signature characters, Cherry Poptart (known simply as Cherry), became a sensation.

Cherry quickly became the California native's most successful and well-known comic book character and series, with 22 issues to date and a variety of collections, posters, stickers, and even tattoos following.

Offered for auction is a 2011 depiction of Welz's Cherry, scantily clad in a plaid mini-skirt, knee-high stockings, and a pink top. The watercolor painting measures 15" x 22.5" and is in impeccable condition.
