After game 2 of the 1997 Eastern Conference Finals, Nike supplied Michael Jordan with his new playoff shoes. The black and red were simply “tough”, and were very accurate for the series. Per our research, MEARS was able to verify this style was worn during game 3, game 4, and possible the first half of the game 5 Flu Game. It is a known fact Jordan sometimes changed shoes at halftime, and the ballboy received the second half shoes which recently sold for $104,000. We have no way of verifying which of any of the games 3-5 these were worn, but per the provenance from Chicago Bulls teammate Bobby Hansen, we can attribute these to one of those three playoff games.
The size 13 shoes remain unsigned, but shoe moderate/appropriate game wear. Accompanying this lot is a Certificate of Authenticity signed by teammate Bobby Hansen which reads, “It is hereby certified that the shoes which accompany this document were worn by Michael Jordan in the Eastern Conference Finals- Bulls v. Miami, Signed Bobby Hansen”. Also accompanying this lot is the winning bidders credit card statement made out to the American Cancer Society, the auction of choice for which these were offered.
A highly desirable example of Michael Jordan game worn playoffs shoes. LOA MEARS
