This lot of 36 pictures captures images from the 1993 World Series between the Toronto Blue Jays and Philadelphia Phillies. The Blue Jays would capture their 2nd consecutive World Series title in the 6th game of the series on Joe Carter's walk off home run.
The Blue Jays won the AL East that year with a 95-67 record. Their offense scored the second most runs in the league behind strong performances from Paul Molitor, John Olerud and Roberto Alomar who finished 2nd, 3rd and 6th in that year's MVP vote. Juan Guzman and Pat Hentgen led the rotation and Duane Ward saved 45 games for a staff that would rank 5th in the league with a 4.21 ERA.
The Phillies slugged their way to a 97-65 record winning the NL East on the strength of their lead leaguing 877 runs scored. Main contributors to the offensive output were Darren Daulton, John Kruk and Lenny Dykstra. Their rotation was led by a young Curt Schilling while Mitch "Wild Thing" Williams would save 43 games.

Designated as a Type 1 photo, this image was developed directly from the original photographers negative within approximately two years of the depicted person/event. Photographers included in the collection include Charles Conlon, George Burke, George Brace, William C. Greene, Alex P. Silverberg, and George Dorrill. Some are identified; many are not but were provided by these world class photographers. Unlike standard wire photos, these images were often hand developed by the photographer and sent to the Sporting News magazine. Therefore, the result is an actual first generation Type 1 photographers print -again, not be confused with the more commonly found wire photo image. Acme Wire Photo, Associated Press, International News, and United Press have provided images to the archives. Reverse images are included for identification purposes.
