While a scant few baseball players are ready for prime time right out of high school, most go to college to build on their ability. Nomar Garciappara was no different than the majority, he went to college and plied his trade. At Georgia Tech, Nomar helped the Yellow Jackets reach the 1994 College World Series title contest.
Garciaparra wore this size "42" jersey during the summer of 1993, when he played for the Orleans Cardinals in the Cape Cod League. Many college players play in a summer league upon going home, that is when Nomar wore this. Wonderful use is shown on the button-up jersey with puckering on the two-color tackle twill identifiers. "Cardinals" is underscored on front. Situated on the right sleeve is a Cape Cod Baseball League patch while the opposite side has an Orleans Cardinals patch. Sewn in the tail is a Speedline size tag. A Velcro swatch appears near the size tag.
Garciaparra signed the front in black felt tip and inscribed "7/19/93" - we presume the date it was signed. We are also including a 1993 program of the Orleans Cardinals. The program lists Aaron Boone and Nomar as wearing 5.
