1991 circa Cal Ripken Jr. Baltimore Orioles Signed Baseball, Baseball Card and Magazine - JSA

This lot features three items signed by baseball legend and lifetime Baltimore Oriole Cal Ripken, Jr. The Iron Man played in 2,632 consecutive games to break Lou Gehrig's longstanding record of 2,130. Over the course of his career Ripken played in 19 All Star Games and was twice named The American League Most Valuable Player. Ripken was elected to The Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007 on his first ballot receiving 98.53% of possible votes, the third highest percentage in history behind Tom Seaver and Nolan Ryan.

The first item is a signed baseball circa 1994-99. It is an official American League ball with some scuffs and dirt spots which is signed in blue ink. The second item is a signed copy of the July 29, 1991 Sports Illustrated which features Ripken on the cover. There is a minor crease in the bottom right corner of the magazine which was signed with a blue sharpie. There is some slight fading on this signature. The final item in this auction is a 1987 Action Superstars #20 Cal Ripken baseball card. The card is signed in black sharpie and features a misspelling of Ripken's name as "Ripkin" on both the front and back. Collection of MEARS Staff. Collection of MEARS Staff.
