Better remembered by many as a back-up IF for the Texas Rangers in the 1980s, Wilkie performed similar duties in fine fashion for the '89 NL East winners. Marking of his number is in an unusual spot...the inside left, on the sweatband, not uncommon for pre-1994 Cubs caps...a unique method similar to the "Yosh marks" found on Cubs game bats of the era.
