Dave Winfield was still dominant in 1984. In 141 games, Winfield batted .340, hit 19 HR’s, 100 RBI’s, and swatted 106 hits, adding to his career total of 3,110. To celebrate is 1984 season; he was elected to his 8th straight All Star game and 4th straight as a Yankee.
Winfield shirts are quite rare, especially authentic examples. Of the four Winfield shirts in the MEARS database, two were deemed unable to authenticate.
This shirt dates to the 1984 season and was evaluated and graded by MEARS. Our finding:
Style: Pin striped home shirt, with seven 4-hole pearl buttons. “NY” on left breast. “31” sewn on reverse. The style of the shirt compares favorably to period images of Winfield from the era.
Manufacturer: Per the Official MEARS tagging database, the style of the Wilson tag dates to the 1979-1986 era, and is correct for 1984 Yankees shirts. Wilson was also verified as being the correct supplier of 1984 Yankees home shirt and verified by the following examples:

Size (44): Measurement of the actual shirt and comparison to on hand size 44 Wilson products verify the shirt is sized correctly. Winfield wore a size 44 shirt during the era and is consistent with the following examples which have entered the hobby:

Game Wear: Shirt shows solid heavy game wear. Some staining the front, and reverse.
Final Grade (MEARS A9): Due to the staining, (minus 1), the shirt grades a MEARS A9.
