Mike McCoy helped patrol the secondary at Lambeau Field for some eight years, a pretty good accomplishment given the unforgiving nature of his position.
McCoy donned this very helmet in 1983 during his stay in Titletown. Plenty of gridiron conflicts were solved while wearing this helmet as scrape marks, gouges and even a black mark or two are still visible on the yellow shell.
Green/white/green striping runs from front to back. A Riddell identifier sticker is found on front. Located on the back are the following: "29" green dymo label, transparent warning sticker and size "L NocSae" embossed.
Leather jaw pads are fit on the inside as is a custom sponge-like reinforcement (sweat staining apparent), WD1 Riddell (padding) sticker and size "7 1/4" sticker. "83" is also embossed into the inner shell which dates this to 1983.
McCoy signed the reverse in black felt tip and added an "84" inscription - most likely the year it was signed.
Employed by the Green Bay Packers from 1984-2000, Scott Waters had on field access for each game, and mingled along the sidelines with the players. Several candid photos document his presence on the field. This lot originated directly from the Scott Waters collection. Detailed LOA’s personally signed by Scott Waters will be included with each item from his collection. Letters of authenticity: Scott Waters & MEARS / Troy Kinunen
