In 1982, the Colorado Rockies hockey franchise was purchased by New Jersey-based owner John McMullen. He wasted little time in moving the team to the Garden State and changing their name to the New Jersey Devils. This five-photo offering shows McMullen at various junctures preceding the Devils' first season.
