Offered is a Wilson size 44 New York Yankees home jersey which was originally issued for wear by hurler Andy Messersmith during his 1978 season with the club as evidenced by the "78 1" box tag sewn to the tail indicating the year of issue and set number. Presence of the Thurman Munson memorial armband, which was added following his death in August of 1979, indicates jersey was also likely worn by Bruce Robinson who was called up to the majors in Septmeber of that year. Interlocking "NY" logo and uniform number are both sewn to jersey in navy tackle twill.
