1973 Roberto Clemente Pittsburgh Pirates Seattle Times Archives" Original 8" x 10 " Photo (Seattle Times Hologram/MEARS LOA)

It was a tear jerker when Roberto Clemente was posthumously elected into the Baseball Hall of Fame. Offered is an original 8" x 10" photo of Clemente's wife Vera at the ceremony. The following appear on reverse: caption affixed, "Aug 12 1973" date stamp and The Seattle Times Archives hologram.

The Seattle Times originated as the Seattle Press-Times, a four page newspaper founded in 1891 with a daily circulation of 3,500, which Maine teacher and attorney Alden J. Blethen bought in 1896. This is an original photo, in many cases a Type 1 printed at the time of the event. File copies or type 2 photos are also found, and can be distinguished by the markings on the reverse.
