Here we see old slugger Roy Sievers imparting some wisdom to young slugger Dick Allen during the Phillies 1964 campaign. Sievers posted his two best seasons in 1957 & 1958 while with Washington combining for 81 home runs, 222 runs batted in and a .298 batting average over the two years. Allen was just breaking into the league in 1964 and would go on to win Rookie of the Year on the strength of his lead leaguing 13 triples, 125 runs scored and 352 total bases.

With over a million images found in the complete archives of "The Sporting News Collection Archives", there were only a few hundred Type 1 Jumbo Oversized images that were included in the find. Unlike standard wire photos, these images were hand developed by the photographer and sent to The Sporting News magazine. Therefore, the result is an actual first generation Type 1 photographer's print - again, not to be confused with the more commonly found wire photo image. This is the first major collection of exclusive Type 1 Jumbo Photos to enter the market.
